On December 21, 2013 my daughter and I made our way over to the Boardwalk Resort to meet the Christmas week characters that would appear. It turned out to be Mickey and Minnie again this year in the same costumes as last year. It’s always great to get a photo with the couple together, so we waited like 2 or 3 minutes and took some photos together. When we arrived at the Old Key West Resort to see what character(s) might be out for guests, we found Goofy staring at the floor. The cast member pointed out that the Christmas tree lights were shining upon the freshly cleaned floor.
Goofy rubbed his eyes a couple of times and tried to see the lights. Continue reading OLD KEY WEST RESORT CHRISTMAS CHARACTER SANTA GOOFY AND CHRISTMAS DECOR
We left the Grand Floridian and had a decision to make. Would we go to the Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House? Last year we met Mickey and Minnie at Wilderness, so we thought we would try AKL instead. Guess what! We found Mickey and Minnie in exactly the same costumes that we had seen them in last year at Wilderness Lodge. What’s the chances of that? We later learned that Santa Goofy was with Pluto at Wilderness Lodge. My daughter would have enjoyed meeting Pluto. Oops on my part.
When Bert joins Mary Poppins this week at Epcot for her Limited Time Magic meet and greets (December 16-22) she will wear her White “Jolly Holiday” dress. If the weather turns cold, like tonight she may have some special outer wear with the costume, but will NOT be wearing Nanny Poppins at all at Epcot.
Meet and greet times:
- 12:00 PM – 12:35 PM
- 01:00 PM – 01:40 PM
- 02:00 PM – 02:40 PM
- 03:50 PM – 04:30 PM
- 04:50 PM – 05:30 PM
- 05:50 PM – 06:30 PM
She does however still occasionally wear the Nanny costume at the Magic Kingdom on cold mornings and still has it available at 1900 Park Fare.
My family and I ventured over to Busch Gardens in Tampa to ride all the great thrill rides and meet the characters. On the thrill ride front, my son said Busch is his favorite park for the coasters. They have a wide variety of them and they all have varying experiences. If you’d like me to share photos, info, touring ideas on Busch Gardens, just let me know in the comments of the post.
Today’s post is about the characters! To be honest, I was pretty geeked out when I heard a while back that King Julian and Gloria were meetable characters at Busch Gardens. I love King Julian from the Madagascar movies. He is one of the wittiest characters around and has a bit of sass to him. Gloria is awesome because she’s “chunky.” You’ll need to watch the second movie to understand that reference. We went to check out the live stage show, Madagascar Live – Operation Vacation, and hoped to meet the characters afterward. The show was a lot of fun, but the character meet and greet was a bit awkward. We found this to be true with the set location for Sesame Street characters too. It’s awkward because they ask you to stand waaaayyy off to the side to take your photo. They are trying so hard to sell you the one that their photographer takes that they aren’t very accommodating and at the King Julian crew meet, the person was downright rude. It was an unexpected disappointment to otherwise meeting great characters. We are accustomed to Disney World and Universal offering photos with their cameras and they are always very accommodating and even willing to use your camera.
Anna and Elsa finally appeared at Epcot’s Norway pavilion on November 2, 2013 after a delay concerning some construction delays. Disney has taken the Puffin’s Roost and transformed it into a simple, yet nice meet and greet area for the ladies. The entire queue waiting area is outdoors. There is NO SHADE. If you visit on a hot, sunny day or rainy day, bring an umbrella. I arrived 15 minutes prior to the third set of the day which is 1:00 pm. I met the Frozen ladies at 1:36 for a total wait time of 51 minutes. The line for the second meet was closed at 1:05 p.m. That means that group also waited at least 55 minutes for the next meet. I recommend you follow my basic rule of Princess meets, ARRIVE EARLY. Go there when the World Showcase opens and be first in line and then go visit Mulan.
You can find Anna and Elsa’s schedule with map here.
We met the characters from Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go! at the Character Zone in front of Mel’s Diner in Universal Studios Florida. Their schedule is listed on the map or you can find it under Characters > Universal Studios here on the blog. Diego Marquez and Baby Jaguar appeared with their jeep for the first meet. Dora “the Explorer” Marquez and Boots did not appear for the first meet the day we were meeting characters, only for the second meet. Overall we met Dora the Explorer, Diego, Baby Jaguar and Boots. We saw the tumbling monkeys on the parade float that they used for the second meet, but they didn’t come down for meet and greets. There were also some stilt walking plants and other Universal Team Member Explorers in costume.
