Meeting characters at Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Complete with schedules!

I set out to Locate Goofy at Blizzard Beach along with Lilo and Stitch at Typhoon Lagoon. I was told 6 different locations for Goofy by 6 different cast members and one said, “He just wanders all over the park.” I finally found his location. It is on the left as you enter the water park just before the Beach Haus souvenirs.  Last year, he was meeting along a path near the lazy river, but this year he is meeting in this location throughout the day.  I have his schedule below.

A rare Donald and Daisy photo and other fun at Pete’s Silly Sideshow

A rare shot of Daisy and Donald together inside Pete's Silly Sideshow. I entered Goofy/Donald's side. There was only one family in the tent, so Donald was escorting a family from his meet to Minnie. He had to stop to give Daisy a little smooch and I crossed the rope (jumped it) and hustled over to request this rare photo. They work together thematically very well.

The best part of having started this blog just over a year ago is all the new amazing friends I’ve met as a result of the information that I’ve been fortunate enough to share. Some friends say hello and strike up a conversation in one of the parks, some spend a couple of days touring around with me, some are cast members who are the unsung heroes of the parks and some are coming forward to provide great photos and information from around the world. EuroRob is providing us great photos from Disneyland Paris and now I’d like to introduce you to Rich Muller. Well, you can’t see Rich because he hasn’t sent me a photo of himself, just lots of great character photos from Disneyland (California). Some of the photos include his terrific son and others are shots of the characters alone.

EPCOT Male Character Plan

Animal Kingdom Plans Epcot Plans Hollywood Studios Plans Magic Kingdom Plans
Epcot Character Touring Plans
Princess Plan Female Characters Male Characters “Furs” Plan
Extreme Plan

Updated 10/3/2013

The purpose of this plan is to meet every MALE character available in Epcot.

Click on a character’s name to see character photo, map, interaction tips and trivia.

EPCOT Male Character Plan

  • Arrive at the entrance to Epcot by 8:15am and look for a turnstile with little or no line. The park advertises that it opens at 9:00 am, but it actually opens at 8:45 am. Make your way at opening to meet Pluto. There will be NO LINE. He will be located on the far right in a alcove before you turn the corner to Spaceship Earth.
Pluto    Entrance (right side)
  • Next we head straight for Mickey & Goofy. “But don’t we need Soarin’ Fastpasses?” you ask. Well, trust me, they won’t be gone by the time you wait 3 minutes to see Mickey and Goofy. Minnie is in the room too, but your little pirate can skip her if he desires! Mickey and Goofy are located in the Character Spot. It is just past the Ice Cream shop on the right. Exact directions are located here.
Mickey, Goofy Character Spot
  • Very few people know when and where Chip and Dale meet. As you pass through the Innoventions breezeway on the right hand side, headed toward Soarin’, you’ll find a little curved out area on your LEFT. Chip n Dale are usually prompt to arrive about 9:30am. I usually just drop into the area about 9:25 to be first in line, otherwise the line is typically about 15-20 minutes.

  • Duffy rarely has a long line, except during the busiest times at Epcot. To avoid any line at all, just show up at his location at 11:25am. To find his location head down the middle path from the Epcot Fountain toward World Showcase. When you reach the end of the path, turn left and Duffy’s gazebo is clearly identified on the left. He’s a hugger by the way!
Duffy World Showcase Plaza
  • Next we continue along the same direction toward the Mexico Pavilion, which is the first one to which you’ll arrive. Go just past the pavilion and you’ll see Mexican Donald on the LEFT. He rarely has a very long line, but by arriving early you’ll avoid any wait.

  • Enjoy some time in Epcot! Tour the World Showcase, play the Agent P game, ride a few rides. We’ll wait until the late afternoon to meet Aladdin. The 4:35 meet would be perfect because you can follow it up with Tigger and Winnie the Pooh shortly after. Arrive about 4:20-4:25. Aladdin meets across from the Morocco pavilion next to the water. If your young pirate doesn’t wish to meet Jasmine, just inform the Cast Member.

  • Tigger and Pooh are located INSIDE the Toy Shoppe in the United Kingdom pavilion. Enter the streets of the UK and make your way toward the back. The Toy Shoppe is located on the RIGHT before you get to the back. Be sure to bounce with Tigger, he loves that.

What should you do when it begins to snow? Build Disney snowmen

We’ve lived in the southern parts of the United States our entire lives.  I was born in Alabama and have lived in Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma and South Carolina.  So, for us, snow accumulations are a rare occurance.  In 2007, while living in Ardmore, OK, my kids and I decided to collect the snow in our yard and our neighbors yards in order to make a decent snowman.  We rolled the snow into very large balls and it basically stripped the yards of it’s 1 or 2 inches of wet snow.  After creating the traditional 3 ball design snow man, I thought it would look cool to add some Mickey ears, so I tossed on a couple more snow balls and we laughed.  I wondered how the snow man would look if I attempted to sculpt the ears to look more like Mickey’s ears.  All we had available were a few lawn tools and some paint scrapers.  The ears were looking really good, so I printed out a couple of pictures of Mickey from different angles and decided to see if I could actually create his entire face.

After about an hour of sculpting, I had created my first every snow creation, but my kids thought he would look better with Mickey hands, which my son had from our most recent trip to Walt Disney World.  We tried to attach them with sticks, but it didn’t look very good.  My son came out with a couple of his plastic bats to use as arms.  We cut up a black sock to create the eyes and nose and a small piece of red fabric for the tongue.  I added on my very own Mickey tie and our first ever snow sculpture was created!

A month or so later we had another, smaller snowfall and decided to create a version of Sleeping Beauty Castle.  We added all the parapets and small details that we could with the very limited amount of grassy snow.

In 2008 we had another small snowfall and tried diligently to create a Donald Duck snowman before the snow melted, which was difficult because he was melting as we were building him.  After creating him, while the kids were at school the next morning, I decided to see what it would look like if I used water based paints that I thinned down to add color to the creation.  Well, it looked like I had created the world’s largest snow cone, but not as much Donald as I wanted.

In February of 2010 we were living in Gun Barrel City, Texas which rarely has snow accumulations.  We awakened to find a nice 2 inch snowfall, but it was powdery snow, which doesn’t make good snowmen.  We had to wait a couple of hours for the snow to melt just slightly, thus created a wet snow.  We rolled all the snow from our yard and our neighbor allowed us to wheel barrow their snow too.  We lived on a hill, so pushing that snow up the driveway was difficult.

My daughter and I chose to attempt our first ever head to snow creation using this wet-pack we had created.  My son has always been a huge Stitch fan, so we created Stitch for him.  To the top of his ears, Stitch measured over 5 feet tall.  We had a lei that we had gotten from a stay at the Polynesian, so that was a natural fit to add to Stitch.

In late 2010 we had moved to our current residence in South Carolina.  The residents here teased us about our former character creations and told us we’d never see enough snow in Florence to make a decent snowman.  Well, we had TWO snowfalls that winter that allowed us to continue our creations with Phineas, Ferb & Agent P and later with Spongebob Squarepants.

It’s fun to make the snow creations, but even more fun watching people stop to take photos.  Some of our snowmen have made it into the local papers and local news and Goofy actually won us a free steak dinner too!

So, if it snows this year in South Carolina, what would you like to see us create?

Animal Kingdom characters set to appear in Halloween Costumes

Mickey, Minnie, Donald Pluto and Goofy have traditionally dressed in special costumes in Camp Minnie Mickey to celebrate Halloween in the Animal Kingdom theme park.  Mickey has dressed as the scarecrow you see above (photo taken at recent Happy Haunted 5K run), Minnie has dressed as a cowgirl, Goofy as a cowboy, Pluto wears a special pumpkin collar and Donald dons his coonskin cap that he used to wear at the Magic Kingdom.

The tradition of dressing for Halloween will continue this year in Camp Minnie Mickey.  The characters will wear these special costumes from October 28-November 3.  This mini-celebration will displace Baloo and King Louie, who will return to Stanley Falls in Africa for this week only.

Winnie the Pooh has traditionally appeared in his Super Slueth costume, Eeyore as a mummy and Tigger dresses for the occasion as well at Discovery Landing.  If you’re in Animal Kingdom next week, be sure to stop by and see these characters in their special costumes.

Goofy

Goofy appears in all four parks.  He also appears at Chef Mickey’s, Tusker House and Cape May Cafe character meals

Possible changes with Donald and Goofy in Epcot

Rumor has it that Goofy is moving out of the Epcot character spot to join Daisy in “Legacy Plaza” at the front of the park.  Does this finally eliminate Stitch from that area?  Stitch has been off the schedule for a couple of weeks.

Donald is said to be leaving the Character Spot and will only be offering his meet in Mexico.
