KennythePirate’s daily adventure 2 – The hidden Minnie

For our second adventure, we chose to drop in and visit Minnie in her hidden location in Hollywood Studios Animation area.  Her meet is very nondescript with no identifiable signage that would point to  a meet and greet.  She is across from the Sorcerer Mickey meet that attracts a 30-45 minute wait, while Minnie’s queue was vacant.  Meet Minnie Mouse at Hollywood Studios (1)

Meet Mr and Mrs Easter Bunny at the Magic Kingdom

Mr and Mrs Easter Bunny will begin officially begin meeting in the Magic Kingdom’s Town Square Sunday, April 13, 2014.  They should be meeting next to City Hall and the schedule is currently listed as 9:00am – 5:10pm from April 13-19.   I haven’t been able to confirm if that is a continuous meet or “intermittently.”

Resorts will again offer Easter morning meet and greets and I’m traveling to all the resorts to acquire this month’s recreation guides to gather that schedule.  I’ll post those details very soon.

The Swan and Dolphin resorts are also offering a special meet and greet with the Easter Bunny that will take place April 18 from 7:00-9:00pm and April 19 from 4:00-5:00pm.  I’ll update you if I hear of other special Easter Bunny meets.  Don’t forget that you can meet E.B and Mr. Bunny at Universal Studios every day as well.

Rumor Round Up: Sofia the First and Doc McStuffins, Jack and Sally at MNSSHP, Minnie to get meet area at Hollywood Studios

Sofia the First

SOFIA THE FIRSTI’ve been receiving tons of emails, comments posts and Tweets wondering about Sofia the First.  (Because the Disney Blog released a confusing post – repeatedly)  Sofia’s appearance was delayed (and I posted about that on June 23) that Sofia’s first appearance at Hollywood Studios would be on  August 11.  Recently the Disney Lifestylers reported that Cast Members were telling guests that Sofia would not begin appearing until August 19th.  (I find it easiest to just say mid-August).   They are designing a new backdrop for Sofia and Jake.  Sofia will take Manny’s place in front of Disney Jr, BUT will NOT take his place in Hollywood and Vine, nor will she currently be added to Hollywood and Vine rotation.

Doc McStuffins

I’ve not heard of any date set for Doc McStuffins appearance in the parks.  I do know that she will make her first public appearance at D23 very soon.  If history tells us anything, it will be several months before she is ready to move into a park meet.   I’m wondering where they would put Doc at Hollywood Studios.  The only place that comes to mind is the Animation area.

Jack Skellington and Sally

Jack Skellington and SallyJack Skellington and Sally are reportedly going to begin appearing at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year!  Walt Disney World recently hosted auditions for CMs who want to be friends with Sally.  Perhaps the single weekend last year with 4+ hour long lines convinced them to add the couple to the MNSSHP rotation.  This meet would be VERY popular and would take the Dwarfs place as THE meet at the parties.  Some feel that they may meet in the Magic Kingdom throughout the day during Halloween season as well, but that remains to be seen.

Monsters Inc instead of Buzz for MINSSHP?

2011 Pixar Weekends - Smitty and Needleman. I really wish they would offer Pixar Weekends on a regular basis! It would be great to add them in February to Hollywood Studios. They could offer all the great characters, movie props, discussions etc...

Some have rumored that Mike and Sulley would come over to join the Party and take Buzz Lightyear’s spot at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party only.   I also heard that they were considering adding some the old Pixar parade characters to the party.  The rumor pointed to those Pixar characters appearing for a new Monster’s Inc themed Dance Party that would take the place of the normal Stitch dance party in Tomorrowland.

Fairies to take over Town Square Theater

I heard numerous times on my recent trip that Tinker Bell and the other fairies would take over Town Square Theater left side after the Princesses move out.  The Princess meet is coming along nicely and I’ve heard reports that it could open for testing some time in September.  If the fairies do indeed move over, it would take a while to re-theme the meet area before they move over.

Anna may be located in Norway?

I’ve heard from several people that they are hearing that Anna from the movie Frozen would be located in Norway, but I can’t see where the meet and greet would fit in Norway.  Someone suggested that she would meet in the Fastpass area or inside the store like Pooh/Tigger, but both areas are pretty small and she will be a popular character.  Princesses and “Ladies” tend to draw some of the longest lines for characters.   It remains to be seen if Elsa or other characters will appear.  The movie Frozen releases in November.

Ariel’s new dress

I heard that Ariel’s new dress design didn’t turn out like they had hoped, so it was delayed.  Ariel was supposed to begin wearing the new dress at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in June, but it’s looking more like an August premier.  Snow White is supposed to get her new threads in October, if all goes as planned.

Jammin’ Jungle Parade

jammin_jungle_paradeIf the rumors are true, Animal Kingdom will no longer offer a parade beginning January 2014.  If that were true, there would be no parades in Walt Disney World from January until Spring 2014 when the new Magic Kingdom parade begins.  It’s getting pretty sad in the Entertainment department with all the removals and scaling back that’s going on.

Meeting the Long-lost Friends 2.0 on Sunday, July 21 Louis the Alligator, Dr. Facilier, Chicken Little, Brer Bear, Brer Fox, Brer Rabbit

I wasn’t able to make it to Long-lost Friends 2.0 until the final Sunday and couldn’t arrive until noon. It was VERY hot outside. My goals were:
1. Meet Louis (and Dr. Facilier)
2. Meet Chicken Little and Abby Mallard – My family met them in 2005, but the photo isn’t very good quality and I wasn’t in the pictures back then 🙂
3. Meet the Brers all together. I’ve met them each separately, but not as a group.
4. Skip the Robin Hood gang to allow others to meet a group that I met a couple of times in February.

I saw Louis and Shadowman still out and jumped in line. The Cast Members informed everyone that they characters would be leaving soon, but they would be right back. The actual line took about 5 minutes, but the wait for the short break ended up being 15 minutes. Fortunately, another character fan had a HUGE umbrella and was willing to share the shade. I wasn’t in a big hurry and it was the one thing I wanted most, so I waited it out.

Thanks!

ktp iconWow, the KennythePirate blog has gone from non-existant to virtual obscurity to know by dozens of people in 19 months!  Nothing better than having dozens of friends, it’s almost as great as having dozens of donuts, but less fatty.  Seriously, I’m still blown away that the blog has taken off as much as it has.  I’m just a guy with usually bad photos, terrible prose and opinions.  I have lots of opinions though.  I’ve seen about 1.5 million page views just in 2013.  Some people told me it was a dumb idea to start a blog that mostly focuses on character information.   I was told people just don’t care that much about character meets.  Guess they were wrong, huh?  Turns out that my family isn’t the only one that loves to meet and interact with characters.

Here’s a few things we’ve learned on the blog in just over a year and a half.

1.  Animal Kingdom hates characters – We’ve seen Terk, Flik, Daisy, Miss Bunny, Thumper, Lilo & Stitch, Meeko, Timon, Jiminy Cricket and Eeyore all stop meeting regularly in the Animal Kingdom and only received Dug, Russell and Air conditioned FP+ Mickey/Minnie in return.

KennythePirate’s top 12 most difficult regular Walt Disney World character meets

MTbanner
Walt Disney World currently offers more than 60 different characters that one can meet on the regular schedule.  That doesn’t include all the RARE/RANDOM and UNCOMMON characters that one might find at Places like Character Palooza, Frontierland Hoedown or Epcot Training.  Some characters are easy to find and offer fairly short lines, while others may be difficult to locate (for non-KtP users) and may not have any public schedules offered.  Here’s my top 12 most difficult Disney World Characters to meet that offer a REGULAR meet and greet.

(Click on a link for that character’s full schedule, map, interaction tips and trivia.)

12.  Mulan

mulan epcot facebookEarly in the morning Mulan’s wait times are pretty low, maybe 10-15 minutes, but later in the afternoon it could be 30 minutes or more.  During the morning set, Mulan usually meets in the front of the China pavilion to help draw guests into the pavilion.  In the afternoon, you’ll often find her next to the Temple of Heaven in the shady area to the left.  I recommend meeting her earlier in the day to avoid waiting. How to find rare characters at Walt Disney World

MTbanner

By placing the character locations and schedules (which I’ll update tonight) on this blog, it was my hope to help some people locate their favorite character more easily. Some characters were listed on the Times Guide, but others were (are) left off the Times Guide. The official Disney line was “ask a Cast Member.” That can be helpful at times, but other times the hard-working cast members just don’t know the answers or haven’t worked there long enough to answer guests questions. At other times the schedules were guarded like State secrects in a black box with handcuffs attached. Recently, one blog/twitter follower said she was given 5 different answers when she asked where Mary Poppins was meeting for Limited Time Magic – True Love Week. I hoped to help people know where to go and when to go there to meet their favorite characters. It was my experience on Ultimate Tours that character meets were always the longest lines, even when the meets were well-planned. Of course, we were trying to do EVERY attraction and EVERY character in the same day which we first accomplished in June, 2011.
