Limited Time Magic – Dapper Dans sing Boy Band songs February 25 – March 3 #limitedtimemagic

dappers 300

The Dapper Dans, the “original” boy band, tip their hats to a new kind of music they discovered strolling through the park one day. Catch this Limited Time Magic surprise from February 25 through March 3  on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom before it goes “Bye Bye Bye”!

The Dapper Dans typically sing turn-of-the-century songs and Disney movie tunes, so this will be unique.  I won’t be booking a trip for this Limited Time Magic, but if you’re in the area, you might drop in to hear them sing Nsync or The Back Street Boys or Hanson or something.  It’s very different hearing Boy Band songs in Barbershop style and actually a little funny.

Here’s a little video that my friend Ricky Brigante shot of the Dapper Dans doing this for a special event.  It starts about 1:15 into the video.

Character changes coming to Animal Kingdom – Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Pooh too

The new “Adventurers Outpost” character location in the former Beastly Bazaar building should open ‘this spring’ according to Disney.  It will be the new home for Mickey and Minnie and should be Fastpass+ equipped when that system rolls out fully.  It will enable guests to meet Mickey and Minnie with a shorter wait, AIR CONDITIONING and a one-stop-shop.  The “Adventurers Outpost” will be located on Discovery Island near the exit of It’s Tough to be a Bug and just before the bridge that leads to Asia.  It’s not confirmed, but I would guess that the photos would be with Mickey and Minnie together in one shot like they used to do at Town Square Theater.

Here’s how Disney describes the new meet and greet location:  “The all-new Adventurers Outpost on Discovery Island is home base for your globetrotting Disney pals, where they meet friends old and new, as they get ready to set off on their next adventure.  Adventurers Outpost is a gathering place, where explorers might come together to share tales from their expeditions around the world. This new, indoor retreat is the perfect spot for meeting Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.”

Pocahontas recently moved to Bradley Falls, she is back in CAMP MINNIE MICKEY, which really makes NO sense because she belongs in Camp and Louie and Baloo belong in Africa.  Someone in Synergy must have missed that detail?

There’s no word on costume changes, but it would be nice to see Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy get some new threads to match their new accommodations.

Meeting Gideon at Epcot

Gideon EP 2013 (6)

We’ve been visiting Walt Disney World regularly as a family since 2004.  During that time we’ve met well over 200 characters, but never had the opportunity to meet Gideon.  I thought Gideon might be part of the Long-lost Friends week, but it was just Pinocchio, Gepetto and Jiminy Cricket from that movie.  I was visiting Epcot on the Sunday before Long-lost Friends began to meet the Winter Wonderland characters when I happened upon a training meet at the World Showplace.  The first character I saw was Gideon.  I dashed over to meet him and I was the last person to meet him for that set.

Limited Time Magic: Long Lost Friends Week – Pinocchio, Gepetto and Jiminy Cricket

I chose to only meet the Pinocchio group once during my time at Long Lost Friends. While I’ve met each of these characters many times, it was the first time I’ve met all three together. I wish they had brought out Foulfellow and Gideon. If they offered Stromboli, it would have been over the top.

Harmony Barber Shop – a first haircut

harmony barber haircut (1)

In December of 2006 my youngest daughter was just over 3 years old. She had never received a haircut at this point. My little one is a beautiful and outgoing young lady who always seems to bring life into any room. She loves to communicate and builds friends quickly. Her hair is unique though, it grows very slowly. It takes several years for her hair to grow to a length just to receive a small trim.  We decided that her first haircut should be at Walt Disney World’s Harmony Barber Shop.
