This Animal Kingdom map that includes character locations, fastpass+ kiosk locations, rides (and whether the ride uses FP+), shows, dining and larger shopping locations. I hope you find that this is the best map and this helps you in your Walt Disney World planning.
You’ll also be able to find these maps under the MAPS tab at the top of the blog. It will also be included in all Animal Kingdom Touring Plans that I create in the future.
The latest iteration of FASTPASS+ “testing” will require ALL Disney Animal Kingdom guests to use Fastpass+ ONLY. Legacy or paper Fastpasses WILL NOT be available during this “test” phase. Guests that are staying at a Disney resort will still be allowed to use the My Disney Experience app, while offsite guests MUST stop by an in park kiosk the day of their visit if they wish to use the Fastpass+ system. Offsite guests will not be issued Magic Bands, but will use their RFID enabled ticket media at the Fastpass+ Touch Points. Any guest may opt not to use the Fastpass+ system and use the regular stand by line.
The “test” is scheduled to begin Wednesday, December 18, 2013
All guests will be able to choose any 3 of the following attractions:
Character Greeting at Adventurers Outpost – Mickey and Minnie
Festival of the Lion King
Finding Nemo – The Musical

You can even use this “High Tech” flier to choose your FP+
We began our day about 9:11 am on a Satruday morning. We had Fastpass+ reservations for the Mickey and Minnie meet, Expedition Everest and Finding Nemo the Musical. We started out day with some photos of the Animal Kingdom Christmas tree.
Yesterday I traveled over to the Animal Kingdom about noon to do some Fastpass testing. I recently did a small amount of testing at the Magic Kingdom in my Triple Dippin post. That post would do a poor job demonstrating how to maximize FP and FP+ though. I will write a new article soon about how you can use FP at the Magic Kingdom and get 8 Fastpasses and use FP at every possible attraction with as little back-tracking as possible.
So, onto the Animal Kingdom on Halloween. (Queue ominous music). I started out my day with 3 Fastpass+ reservations. I had reserved Expedition Everest, Mickey and Minnie and Kilimanjaro Safari. As I entered Animal Kingdom I headed straight over to meet Mickey and Minnie using my FP reservation. The posted wait was 20 minutes. Using FP+ I waited 8.21 minutes according to the Wait Time feature in our Android version of Character Locator.
The new “Adventurers Outpost” character location in the former Beastly Bazaar building should open ‘this spring’ according to Disney. It will be the new home for Mickey and Minnie and should be Fastpass+ equipped when that system rolls out fully. It will enable guests to meet Mickey and Minnie with a shorter wait, AIR CONDITIONING and a one-stop-shop. The “Adventurers Outpost” will be located on Discovery Island near the exit of It’s Tough to be a Bug and just before the bridge that leads to Asia. It’s not confirmed, but I would guess that the photos would be with Mickey and Minnie together in one shot like they used to do at Town Square Theater.
Here’s how Disney describes the new meet and greet location: “The all-new Adventurers Outpost on Discovery Island is home base for your globetrotting Disney pals, where they meet friends old and new, as they get ready to set off on their next adventure. Adventurers Outpost is a gathering place, where explorers might come together to share tales from their expeditions around the world. This new, indoor retreat is the perfect spot for meeting Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.”
Pocahontas recently moved to Bradley Falls, she is back in CAMP MINNIE MICKEY, which really makes NO sense because she belongs in Camp and Louie and Baloo belong in Africa. Someone in Synergy must have missed that detail?
There’s no word on costume changes, but it would be nice to see Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy get some new threads to match their new accommodations.
Mickey, Minnie, Donald Pluto and Goofy have traditionally dressed in special costumes in Camp Minnie Mickey to celebrate Halloween in the Animal Kingdom theme park. Mickey has dressed as the scarecrow you see above (photo taken at recent Happy Haunted 5K run), Minnie has dressed as a cowgirl, Goofy as a cowboy, Pluto wears a special pumpkin collar and Donald dons his coonskin cap that he used to wear at the Magic Kingdom.
The tradition of dressing for Halloween will continue this year in Camp Minnie Mickey. The characters will wear these special costumes from October 28-November 3. This mini-celebration will displace Baloo and King Louie, who will return to Stanley Falls in Africa for this week only.
Winnie the Pooh has traditionally appeared in his Super Slueth costume, Eeyore as a mummy and Tigger dresses for the occasion as well at Discovery Landing. If you’re in Animal Kingdom next week, be sure to stop by and see these characters in their special costumes.
