Daisy Duck and Donald Duck meet and greet at Animal Kingdom’s Discovery Island details

Daisy and Donald moved into Animal Kingdom’s Discovery Island location across from Flame Tree BBQ this morning.  Tigger and Pooh are now gone entirely from Animal Kingdom, but continue to meet in other locations.   Be sure to check out my Master Character Location list for all the places you can meet them.

Disney hasn’t had an opportunity to post their names, but they meet from 9:00am until 30 minutes before close daily.  There schedule is in my Animal Kingdom schedules and on my www.characterlocator.com app.

Professor Parker Woodson and his pet Velociraptor to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park will begin a test presentation of a new character-type interactive experience in Dinoland USA. The test is said to begin April 19 and continue for at least two weeks. The test involves Professor Parker Woodson and his “pet” velociraptor known as “V.” I’m not sure how one raises a raptor as a pet, but I guess we’ll find out. I sure hope it’s not just the guy that works at Restaurantasaurus who walks around creeping people out with the little puppet thing.

If they are looking for some really cool area entertainment in Dinoland, they should just bring back Lucky the Dinosaur. He was awesome!

D23 Convention, Lucky the Dinosaur
I had seen shows that talked about Lucky the Dinosaur, but had never seen him in any of the parks. I had the joy of meeting him at the first D23 convention in Aneheim in 2009. His movements and sound made him appear very life-like.

Or they could bring back Roxie and TRex!

Walt Disney World Characters, Animal Kingdom Characters, Dinoland, Roxie, TRex
2006 – Rosie and TRex. These great dinosaur characters used to offer meet and greets in Dinoland before going into extinction!

I’ll head over later in the week to check this out and report back. Let’s hope it’s not just puppet guy. I’ll see if I can learn his show times.

Photos and directions for the new Animal Kingdom character meets including Pocahontas, Donald Duck, Chip n Dale and Baloo n King Louie

I dropped into the Animal Kingdom today to verify all the new locations that I mentioned the other day.  I had a bunch of people asking if the characters meet on Sundays.  YES, the characters meet on Sundays.  The new schedule began on a Monday and is only posted through this Saturday.  I update the app every Saturday night with new schedules.

I decided to go visit Donald Duck first because I was entering the park mid-day.  Normally, I would start with Pocahontas, then Baloo and Louie, then Chip n Dale and finish with Donald Duck.

DONALD DUCK

Donald has relocated to Dinoland.  To reach him, go to the Tree of Life and hang a right.  (Click on any pic for a larger image)

Photo of Mickey and Minnie in Adventurers Outpost

DISNEY, Walt Disney World, Animal Kingdom – Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse have a new home base at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Adventurers Outpost opens today on Discovery Island, and it’s the exploration headquarters for everyone’s favorite globetrotting duo, where they get together with friends old and new.

Step inside Adventurers Outpost, and you’ll find mementos from Mickey and Minnie’s expeditions around the world, including stunning photographs from their trips to destinations as varied as the mountains of Nepal and the savannas of Africa.
Of course, some of the best memories of all come when you get your chance to meet Mickey and Minnie, share stories of your own travels and capture that postcard-perfect photo with your Disney pals, before heading out to continue your adventure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

NOTE:  It is a NEW meet area, but the costumes are the same.  The meet will offer FASTPASS+ in the future and provides air conditioning and some Mickey magic.

Adventurers Outpost opening and Farewell Eeyore

Eeyore will be leaving the Animal Kingdom at closing of the park on May 9.  This means that Eeyore will only be available at Crystal Palace or training meets.  I had heard rumblings for a while that Eeyore would be cut, but hoped they would change their minds.  Winnie the Pooh and Tigger will move into Camp Minnie Mickey.  Pooh and Tigger move into
Camp on May 10.

Donald and Daisy will move to Discovery Island boat dock where the Pooh characters are currently meeting.  This will be a return to Animal Kingdom for Daisy, who used to meet during lunch in Camp Minnie Mickey.  This area will offer FASTPASS + once that system is completed.

Mickey and Minnie will move into the all new Adventurers Outpost beginning May 12 as predicted earlier.  This offers guests another indoor air-conditioned meet and greet for Mickey.  It hasn’t been announced if they will meet as a couple or separate.

Character changes coming to Animal Kingdom – Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Pooh too

The new “Adventurers Outpost” character location in the former Beastly Bazaar building should open ‘this spring’ according to Disney.  It will be the new home for Mickey and Minnie and should be Fastpass+ equipped when that system rolls out fully.  It will enable guests to meet Mickey and Minnie with a shorter wait, AIR CONDITIONING and a one-stop-shop.  The “Adventurers Outpost” will be located on Discovery Island near the exit of It’s Tough to be a Bug and just before the bridge that leads to Asia.  It’s not confirmed, but I would guess that the photos would be with Mickey and Minnie together in one shot like they used to do at Town Square Theater.

Here’s how Disney describes the new meet and greet location:  “The all-new Adventurers Outpost on Discovery Island is home base for your globetrotting Disney pals, where they meet friends old and new, as they get ready to set off on their next adventure.  Adventurers Outpost is a gathering place, where explorers might come together to share tales from their expeditions around the world. This new, indoor retreat is the perfect spot for meeting Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.”

Pocahontas recently moved to Bradley Falls, she is back in CAMP MINNIE MICKEY, which really makes NO sense because she belongs in Camp and Louie and Baloo belong in Africa.  Someone in Synergy must have missed that detail?

There’s no word on costume changes, but it would be nice to see Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy get some new threads to match their new accommodations.

Animal Kingdom characters in their Christmas costumes

There are only a few characters that appear within the parks during regular hours that offer special Christmas costuming.  Phineas and Ferb and Goofy after dark dress up at Hollywood Studios and Duffy appeared as Santa in Epcot, but the Animal Kingdom is a smorgasbord of Disney characters in special holiday outfits. You can find Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Chip n Dale, Goofy, Pluto, Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger in great festive attire.  My daughter and I spent a day in the Animal Kingdom recently and met each of these characters.

Wait for Santa Goofy at Animal Kingdom was much less than meeting him near the Osborne Lights at Hollywood Studios
