My girls and I just wanted to head to Epcot in order to meet Chip n Dale in patriotic Revolutionary War costuming. They were meeting for July 4th only next to the American Adventure attraction. We arrived around 11:00am and stopped by an Epcot Character Training meet that included Tinker Bell, Aladdin, Minnie, Chip n Dale and Baloo with King Louie. We chose to meet with Tink, who had the longest line.
We made our way around to America expecting Chip n Dale to begin meeting at 11:30am. The meet and greet wasn’t published anywhere, so I was going by last year’s times. The characters finally arrived at Noon. The line for them was steady in the 30-45 minute range through the day.
From there we stepped over to enjoy the Voices of Liberty July 4 celebration, which was amazing. I’ll share some video clips on my Youtube channel later. I usually post little video clips on my Facebook page while I’m touring around too. There was a light rain, but we endured it. I thought we should take in the American Adventure show before leaving, but noticed a line off to the left and learned that Mickey, Goofy and Donald would be meeting there shortly. Of course, we joined the line!
We were asked to only take one photo per family, so I wasn’t able to take a photo of the characters by themselves like I often do 😦 They weren’t allowing autographs either to speed the line. That was no big deal to us.
After meeting these characters, it was time to take in the American Adventure before heading out of the park.
We enjoyed the afternoon at Typhoon Lagoon with friends, dinner at Shula Burger and viewed the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the Polynesian beach for a great celebration of our freedom!
We ventured over to the Animal Kingdom’s Dinoland Dance-a-palooza dance party on Saturday afternoon. It was about 95 degrees, so everyone was pouring sweat with the 712% humidity that we experience here in tropical Florida.
I’ve previously documented a visit to the Dinoland Dance Party and I was able to dance with Gypsy Moth and Slim on that visit! You never know what characters will appear, but they tend to be the same for the Daily 3:30pm and 5:00pm shows. The characters are NOT available for regular meet and greets and do NOT sign autographs. They are there to dance and have fun.
Update: It appears that this dance party will be merged into the Frozen Summer of Fun Live promotion and will begin at 5:30pm at the Sorcerer’s Hat.
Something that seemingly appeared out of nowhere is the new “Rock Your Summer Side” Disney character dance party. It was announced on Friday and began the same day. According to the press release the dance party will be offered in front of the Sorcerer Hat at Hollywood Studios until August 22nd. The dance party runs from 6:00pm to 10:00pm daily.
The dance party features 30 minutes of live music by Mulch, Sweat and Shears followed by 30 minutes with a DJ and the Disney characters. The characters first appeared at 6:30pm to an otherwise empty dance party area. As soon as everyone saw the face below, the people in the area ran to meet the VIP characters.
Mickey appears in his cool looking blue jam shorts, white pineapple tshirt and blue Hawaiian shirt. I was told that he and a couple other characters appear in different costumes on different days.
Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dinner at Hollywood and Vine in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
This Star Wars dinner has a totally different feeling and appeal to it than its breakfast counterpart. The breakfast meal is in a really dark environment and features dark characters (except Jawas) and they provide movie clips. (recently added more content to the breakfast post, so you might want to click the link to check out the additions).
The Jedi Mickey’s dinner provides a much lighter feeling. It’s bright and vibrant and there’s upbeat music playing. It features some great classic characters that includes Chip n Dale as Ewoks, Jedi Mickey, Princess Leia Minnie, Darth Goofy and Stormtrooper Donald. You can meet these same characters in the park during Star Wars Weekends in these costumes, but expect long lines and Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy rotate often.
Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine cost information:
The cost of this Star Wars character meal is $55.99 for adults 10 and over and $32.99 for children 3 to 9 years of age. If you’d like to make it a Fantasmic! dining package the cost is slightly more at $59.99 for adults and $36.99 for children. The meal will also include a FREE digital download of Ewok Chip n Dale. The meal will begin serving at 4:15pm daily and close with the park.
The Disney Star Wars Characters in attendance:
Chip n Dale as Ewoks
Ewok Chip n Dale are the official greeters of Jedi Mickey’s dinner at Hollywood and Vine. They appear with a giant logo background right as you enter the restaurant. They do not move about the restaurant, they are in a fixed location.
After finishing up our Grand Floridian character meets and spending some time talking with some new friends, we headed over to the Contemporary Resort. We were hoping to meet Chip n Dale in their black tuxedos. We rushed down to find that the CM said the family before us were the last to meet them at that time. We could wait around about 30 minutes to meet them and meet Mr. Easter Bunny or move along. Before Chip n Dale rushed off, Debbie gave them each nut filled candy and they gave her a big hug.
Character Palooza can be like shooting at a moving target at times. Cast Members are instructed to act as if it doesn’t occur until they characters actually appear and the schedules aren’t published publicly except on my site and others who borrow it. I’m able to get basic schedules from an uncredited friend because the friend wants guests to be able to access these characters. Sometimes the schedules that I’m provided can be adjusted slightly based on conditions and desires of the Character Palooza team. I try my best to keep the schedules updated, but recommendation is to arrive a little before the times I list and wait around. Characters will NOT appear during inclement weather.
Here’s who we visited yesterday: Belle, Mulan, Snow White & Snow Queen Grimhilde, Green Army Men, Penguin, Mary Poppins, Stitch, Genie, Chip n Dale. Belle didn’t return for the second set and the third set was cancelled after only a minute or two on stage due to rain in the area.

I dropped into the Animal Kingdom today to verify all the new locations that I mentioned the other day. I had a bunch of people asking if the characters meet on Sundays. YES, the characters meet on Sundays. The new schedule began on a Monday and is only posted through this Saturday. I update the app every Saturday night with new schedules.
I decided to go visit Donald Duck first because I was entering the park mid-day. Normally, I would start with Pocahontas, then Baloo and Louie, then Chip n Dale and finish with Donald Duck.
Donald has relocated to Dinoland. To reach him, go to the Tree of Life and hang a right. (Click on any pic for a larger image)
Among the new offerings for 2013 Star Wars Weekends are the Chipwoks. It’s Chip n Dale dressed as Ewoks, so I like to call them “Chipwoks.” The meet and greet is a great new addition and it’s proven to be very popular during the first two weekends. In the Star Wars series the Ewoks are a hunter-gatherer species that helped save the rebel alliance. They resemble Teddy Bears, so Chip n Dale are a natural for the role. I’m grateful they didn’t turn Duffy into Duffwok!
