We purchased the Universal Photo Connect pass for Annual Passholders, which allows us to have unlimited photo access to the major meet and greets and on-ride photos at Universal Orlando recently. As a part of this package, we get unlimited downloads for some of the some meets like Spider-Man at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. When one usually takes this photo on their own, they are presented with just a green screen background which is kind of boring, unless you have photoshop skills.
We met Minion Bob right after experiencing Minion Mayhem at Universal Studios Florida on February 21, 2014. There’s a little dance room immediately after the ride and the characters sometimes stop to pose with families. They usually aren’t out the first or last hour of the day.
We met the characters from Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go! at the Character Zone in front of Mel’s Diner in Universal Studios Florida. Their schedule is listed on the map or you can find it under Characters > Universal Studios here on the blog. Diego Marquez and Baby Jaguar appeared with their jeep for the first meet. Dora “the Explorer” Marquez and Boots did not appear for the first meet the day we were meeting characters, only for the second meet. Overall we met Dora the Explorer, Diego, Baby Jaguar and Boots. We saw the tumbling monkeys on the parade float that they used for the second meet, but they didn’t come down for meet and greets. There were also some stilt walking plants and other Universal Team Member Explorers in costume.

We met Sideshow Bob and Krusty the Clown next to Moe’s in the Springfield section of Universal Studios Florida earlier this summer. There is no posted schedules for these characters, so you’ll need to ask a Universal character attendant for their meet and greet times. I joked with Sideshow Bob about being Jean Valjean (even sang a bit of the song) and Krusty was rolling in laughter.
Two times each day, the characters from the movie Hop who appear in the daily parade come out to meet and greet with their fans in front of Mel’s Diner. The meet and greet is advertised on the Universal Orlando map and I post those times under Characters > Universal Studios Characters. The times change weekly, so be sure to double check the times during your visit.
Before the meet and greet portion occurs a colorful and talented drum line comes out to perform and E.B. will join them shortly after to show off his skilz. In the movie, he was more interested in drumming than in becoming the next Easter Bunny.

We set out to meet the characters from Despicable Me that appear in the Superstar Parade each day. We read on the map that they appear in the “Character Party Zone” at two specific times that I now list on the Universal Character Schedules page. We arrived a few minutes late for the first meet and greet because: 1. We didn’t know it would be in front of Terminator 2: 3D and 2. It took 30 minutes to use Express Pass for Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. We had just enough time to meet Margo and snap a couple of candid photos before the float moved on.
First set in front of Terminator 2: 3D
On our recent trip to Universal Studios Orlando, we wanted to visit as many characters as possible while still enjoying the other attractions. High on our list of Universal Characters to meet were the Transformers characters. These characters weren’t listed on the map, any handout or Universal’s website. There is no location listed and there is no schedule mentioned ANYWHERE. You know that isn’t good enough for KtP, so we set out to meet these characters AND get some schedule details.
We found that the Transformers were meeting on a little back street between Shrek 4D and Monster Cafe. Basically, just take a right when you pass Shrek 4D and you’ll see the meet ahead on the right. You’ll pass Shrek, Donkey and Fiona’s meet as well. So, pirateman, when do these characters actually meet? They meet from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm daily during the summer months AND we found that they rotate exactly every 20 minutes. Bumblebee met on the :00’s, Optimus Prime met on the :20’s and Megatron met on the :40’s. (Now that will get spread all over the internet right? Lol)
We lined up about 9:35 and Optimus Prime was meeting, but the Team Members were informing guests that they would be meeting Megatron. A couple left the line, but we actually preferred Megatron because we never saw him at Universal Studios Hollywood last year. Behold the power of Megatron!
