What are we doing for the 24 hour party?
I’ve asked a few times what I’ll be doing for the 24 hour party that is know as “Rock Your Disney Side.” Will I be attending? Will I spend the entire day? Will I wear a costume? Those are all great questions that I’ve kept pretty secret until now.
Many of you know that I’m sort of good at the Ultimate Tours that Touringplans.com created a few years back. My family and I currently hold the top spot in the Hall of Fame complete tours in all four parks. We hold 4 of the top 5 complete Magic Kingdom Ultimate Tours and our best effort was 82 attractions on Leap Day 2012. From the attractions that were open that day, we only missed a couple of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom missions and the Frontierland Hoedown (bonus attractions). We got hung up by the 3.5 hour wait to meet Rapunzel and Flynn during the party time. Continue reading What will KennythePirate be doing for the Rock Your Disney Side 24 hour party?
I thought might be helpful to track the schedule information for the upcoming Rock Your Disney Side 24 Magic Kingdom day. The event will begin at 6:00am on Friday, May 23rd and the park will remain open until 6:00am on Friday, May 24th. The theme for the event is Heroes vs Villains, but we don’t know yet how that will play out. In the previous two iterations the event provided a special dance party in the hub and special character meet and greets after midnight, including Mickey and Minnie in their pajamas. There is no special ticket required, just a regular park ticket. Cast Members are blocked from using their gate privileges for the event but can use comp tickets.
Guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character, whether hero or villain, but don’t wear a mask that obstructs your vision. I again remind you it will be really HOT and possibly could rain, so dress in something light and bring a poncho.
Costume guidelines provided by Disney:
- Costumes should be child-friendly and adhere to any guidelines determined by Disney.
- Costumes should not be obstructive, offensive or violent; drag on the ground; contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest; contain any weapons or objects which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Masks may be worn, but they must not obstruct vision, and eyes must be visible at all times.
- Guests who dress like Disney characters may not pose for pictures or sign autographs.
- Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused admission.
Based on the previous two 24 hour experiences, I would foresee light crowds early in the event and massive crowds in the evening for the fireworks and parade. It usually begins to clear out around 2:00am when the rides go through brief or early shut downs for routine maintenance that must be performed daily.
Here’s the entertainment schedule that was provided to me. I will update this information as it’s sent along. I haven’t received any information on any special character meet and greets or event specific activities yet. I’ll update the post when I do.

It’s difficult to assume that every character will offer some type of meet and greet opportunity during the upcoming 24 hour day, but May 23-24 could bring some great rare characters to the Magic Kingdom from 6:00 am to 6:00am. Disney is calling the event “Rock Your Disney Side: 24 Hours.” Guests are encouraged to wear costumes. Let me advise you that it will be VERY HOT and VERY CROWDED that day, so wear something that is cool and breathes well. I would personally avoid face paint or masks too. If you are wearing some type of hat, you might want to cut holes in the top for the hot air to escape. I will try to be a little creative with my Disney Bounding that day and welcome advice, but it must be KtP. Continue reading Disney Parks reveals upcoming RockYourDisneySide 24 hour day. Will it be character focused?
UPDATE: I have friends who reported waits in excess of 165 minutes for Flynn Rider and used Fastpass+ to meet them and it took them 90 minutes!
Some of Disney’s most popular Princes made a special appearance today to celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Magic Kingdom. It was kind of funny, because the Cast Members were either being really coy about the experience in an attempt to keep the somewhat surprise or they had no knowledge who would be available.
Upon reaching the TTC, they had a bunch of pretty red and white Valentine’s Day balloons. Most of them were totally gone by lunch.

According to a trusted source, Princes will meet with their Princesses on Valentine’s Day 2014. That means that you’ll get to see Flynn Rider with Rapunzel and Snow Prince with Snow White, Cinderella’s Prince “Charming” with Cinderella and Prince Phillip with Aurora inside Fairytale Hall in the Magic Kingdom. In addition to these Princes, you’ll be able to find Naveen with Tiana at the Glade in the morning and Bert will meet with Mary Poppins (presumably in Town Square). According to the source, their schedule should be 9:00am-5:00pm. Bert’s schedule appears to end at the same time as Mary Poppins.
I’ve been so busy with family and blog stuff that I haven’t had a chance to complete my Christmas Week character set. On Christmas Eve morning, my daughters and I traveled over to the Old Key West Resort to see who we would find and it was none other than Santa Mickey! This year he even added a beard for us too.

Last year my daughter and I had the joy of meeting Chip n Dale at the Contemporary Resort during Christmas week and they were dressed at toy soldiers. I had never seen those costumes before, so we were excited to meet them there.

On December 21, 2013 my daughter and I made our way over to the Boardwalk Resort to meet the Christmas week characters that would appear. It turned out to be Mickey and Minnie again this year in the same costumes as last year. It’s always great to get a photo with the couple together, so we waited like 2 or 3 minutes and took some photos together. When we arrived at the Old Key West Resort to see what character(s) might be out for guests, we found Goofy staring at the floor. The cast member pointed out that the Christmas tree lights were shining upon the freshly cleaned floor.
Goofy rubbed his eyes a couple of times and tried to see the lights. Continue reading OLD KEY WEST RESORT CHRISTMAS CHARACTER SANTA GOOFY AND CHRISTMAS DECOR
We left the Grand Floridian and had a decision to make. Would we go to the Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House? Last year we met Mickey and Minnie at Wilderness, so we thought we would try AKL instead. Guess what! We found Mickey and Minnie in exactly the same costumes that we had seen them in last year at Wilderness Lodge. What’s the chances of that? We later learned that Santa Goofy was with Pluto at Wilderness Lodge. My daughter would have enjoyed meeting Pluto. Oops on my part.
