We left the Contemporary Resort and jumped on the monorail again and headed off two stops down the run to the Polynesian. When we stopped there, a lady asked, “Is this Downtown Disney?” Umm, not quite. No monorails to Downtown Disney. It’s hard enough to find a bus there, so they should consider it. They would sell more tacos and stuffed Stitch dolls and Vinylmaters or whatever they are called.
We arrived at the Polynesian and began looking for the “Luau Lawn.” No one at the Polynesian had a clue where that was, so we followed the signs to “Luau Cove,” which sounded close enough. One guy tried to send us to ‘Ohana for breakfast. I was willing to go, but he didn’t have a reservation and didn’t want to pay. How rude! After finishing up our Grand Floridian character meets and spending some time talking with some new friends, we headed over to the Contemporary Resort. We were hoping to meet Chip n Dale in their black tuxedos. We rushed down to find that the CM said the family before us were the last to meet them at that time. We could wait around about 30 minutes to meet them and meet Mr. Easter Bunny or move along. Before Chip n Dale rushed off, Debbie gave them each nut filled candy and they gave her a big hug.
We started out our Easter meet plan with the goal of hoping to meet Mickey and Minnie in their purple formal attire. We thought we’d park at the TTC and take the monorail over. We arrived before 8:00am with the goal of being on the Grand Floridian lawn by 8:15am. Well, all didn’t go as planned. As we prepared to board the resort monorail, we were told there would be a minor delay to do a “maintenance test.” The train sat there for a couple of minutes, then we all boarded. It moved back and forth a few times, made a really odd braking noise and then it totally powered off.
We sat there with no power for a couple of minutes and they re-booted the system. We thought we were ready to go. We moved a few feet forward and they reopened the doors and allowed more people to board. After a few more minutes we finally moved a short distance. The train would start, then stop, then start…
Mr and Mrs Easter Bunny will begin officially begin meeting in the Magic Kingdom’s Town Square Sunday, April 13, 2014. They should be meeting next to City Hall and the schedule is currently listed as 9:00am – 5:10pm from April 13-19. I haven’t been able to confirm if that is a continuous meet or “intermittently.”
Resorts will again offer Easter morning meet and greets and I’m traveling to all the resorts to acquire this month’s recreation guides to gather that schedule. I’ll post those details very soon.
The Swan and Dolphin resorts are also offering a special meet and greet with the Easter Bunny that will take place April 18 from 7:00-9:00pm and April 19 from 4:00-5:00pm. I’ll update you if I hear of other special Easter Bunny meets. Don’t forget that you can meet E.B and Mr. Bunny at Universal Studios every day as well.
UPDATE: I have friends who reported waits in excess of 165 minutes for Flynn Rider and used Fastpass+ to meet them and it took them 90 minutes!
Some of Disney’s most popular Princes made a special appearance today to celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Magic Kingdom. It was kind of funny, because the Cast Members were either being really coy about the experience in an attempt to keep the somewhat surprise or they had no knowledge who would be available.
Upon reaching the TTC, they had a bunch of pretty red and white Valentine’s Day balloons. Most of them were totally gone by lunch.
According to a trusted source, Princes will meet with their Princesses on Valentine’s Day 2014. That means that you’ll get to see Flynn Rider with Rapunzel and Snow Prince with Snow White, Cinderella’s Prince “Charming” with Cinderella and Prince Phillip with Aurora inside Fairytale Hall in the Magic Kingdom. In addition to these Princes, you’ll be able to find Naveen with Tiana at the Glade in the morning and Bert will meet with Mary Poppins (presumably in Town Square). According to the source, their schedule should be 9:00am-5:00pm. Bert’s schedule appears to end at the same time as Mary Poppins.
I’ve been so busy with family and blog stuff that I haven’t had a chance to complete my Christmas Week character set. On Christmas Eve morning, my daughters and I traveled over to the Old Key West Resort to see who we would find and it was none other than Santa Mickey! This year he even added a beard for us too.
Last year my daughter and I had the joy of meeting Chip n Dale at the Contemporary Resort during Christmas week and they were dressed at toy soldiers. I had never seen those costumes before, so we were excited to meet them there.
On December 21, 2013 my daughter and I made our way over to the Boardwalk Resort to meet the Christmas week characters that would appear. It turned out to be Mickey and Minnie again this year in the same costumes as last year. It’s always great to get a photo with the couple together, so we waited like 2 or 3 minutes and took some photos together.
