Frozen Summer of Fun Live Sing-a-Long featuring Anna Elsa and Kristoff

How to experience all the Frozen Summer Fun with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf at Hollywood Studios

Experience all the Frozen Summer Fun

Disney officially confirmed the rumor that I posted on August 5, 2014 that the Frozen Summer Fun will be extended into September.  The new cutoff date is listed as September 28th.  Everything will continue as is, except for the Frozen Fireworks which will move to Friday, Saturday and Sunday beginning September 5.  I’ve updated my Crowd Calendar for September because I do believe this will cause a slight bump in attendance at Hollywood Studios on the weekends, especially at night by those using Park Hoppers.  Disney has also increased park hours for the days that the Frozen Fireworks are being offered.  I’m taking a guess at the performance time for the fireworks from September 14th onward as it isn’t published yet.  They reopened the Premium Package sales for September, if you are interested in that.  Here’s my reviews from the Star Wars Weekends experience that is very similar to the Frozen stuff.

Here’s how to take in all the Frozen Summer of Fun activities without needing to pay the price for the Premium Package.

1.  Pick a spot for the parade at least 45 minutes early on Hollywood Boulevard.

Seating areas along the parade route are quite limited, so you’ll need to choose a good spot.

This map shows the best viewing locations.  The yellow area will only allow you to view the parade portion and not the welcome show.Hollywood Studios Parade Map KennythePirate

2.  Pick up your For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-a-long return card.

Stop by San Francisco Street the Lightning and Mater meet and greet near the Premier Theater and choose your return time for the For the First Time in Forever:  Frozen Sing A Long.

UPDATE 8/17/2014:  The Sing-a-long will move to Fastpass+ beginning September 2nd.  You can already book those.

Hollywood Studios offers FREE return time cards for the Sing-A-Long.  Think of them as a free Fastpass and reserved seating all in one.  You’ll need the card to secure a spot for the Sing A Long.   Just stop by the end of San Francisco Street and pick one up.   One person can pick up as many as you need and you can choose the time of the show that you prefer.

3.  Visit Oaken’s Trading Post later in the afternoon.

I’ve found that the lines for the shopping area and the play area (separate) are longer in the morning, so go in the late afternoon.  You can take part in ice skating for $10 which includes skate rentals, socks, helmet rental and 30 minutes on the ice.  You can play in the snow creation area for 10 minutes, get some snacks and take a few Magic Shot photos.  In the shopping area you can purchase those dolls, dresses, tshirts and such.

4. Take in Character Palooza.

Many guests to the website and Facebook have asked if the Frozen activities have affected Character Palooza.  I documented the small impact on Palooza in this post.  The times for Character Palooza are found both on my Crowd Calendars and in my Character Locator app.  The app will be the best investment you make in your Disney World vacation and is about the price of a single cupcake.  The app is updated regularly.

5.  Frozen Fireworks

Hold down your spot for the Frozen Fireworks along Hollywood Boulevard or next to Min and Bills or in front of the 50’s Prime Time Dinner at least 30 minutes early.

Here’s a post that has a some photos from Hollywood Boulevard.  I was standing in front of Disney & Co along the tape.

Here’s a map I created with the best fireworks viewing locations.  This is a great park to see the fireworks OUTSIDE the park, but you won’t be able to hear the music!

6.  Fantasmic!

I recommend taking in the SECOND showing of Fantasmic! during the Frozen Fun.  It’s much easier to get a seat and you’re not scrambling with 6,000 of your closest friends to find a fireworks viewing area.  The Fastpass+ viewing area is a good view for this show as well.

  1. Thanks for all the great info. I have a question though, we have a reservation at Hollywood and Vine at 9:30 am and we have bought the Frozen Premium Package. Should we cancel that reservation in order to get in the line to receive our Frozen information? This won’t be our first time eating there so not a big deal to the kiddos if we miss it… they would rather see the Frozen stuff

      1. ok, I was thinking check in for the meal earlier. I have read on a couple other sites where people with the premium package are checking in early and waiting in line… I bought the package to avoid all that right?
It says the check in time is at 10 and wanted to make sure I’m not going to miss anything.

  2. Hi Kenny-
We have 11:10 lunch ADR at Hollywood & Vine.

    I am wondering a few things…
How long are the parade & welcome show?
Do you think it feasible that we will be able to watch them both, and still make the 11:10 ADR, albeit a bit late? Do you think H&V would mind if we came (how late)?

I guess I am hoping that the total Frozen time is no longer than 30 min, and that H&V won’t mind that we are 20-ish min late.

    1. Follow-up question: on a Saturday should I expect it to be hard to get a voucher for a later (6 or 7pm) singalong show if I don’t hop to DHS until late afternoon (3-4pm)?

  3. Can you pick up the return tickets for the sing along from park opening?

Thanks for this info it’s a massive help!!! And this announcement made a 25 year old (me!) very happy today!

  4. Hi Kenny is it possible to enjoy both the fireworks and Fantasmic that was part of the Fantasmic dinner package? We are going to be going on September 13th. Thanks!

      1. The parade issues and distance from the hat haven’t changed a bit. You’ll still need to arrive really early for the parade to get a front spot and the fireworks are really close.
